that Nemasie is not to be employed in
connection with the purchase of opium.
I do not know whether the
Company has bought any opium through
this firm, but, in any case, we trust
that they will see the desirability of
falling into line with the
instructions given to the Straits
Government.
The Governor of the Straits
is also being asked to communicate
confidentially to the Government of Sarawak
St a warning on the lines of that
which it is proposed should be given by
the Government of India to the French
Indo-China authorities.
I have written to you
confidentially and semi-officially as
it seemed more appropriate to do so
than for the Office to write an official
letter to the Company about this matter.
Yours very sincerely,
(Signed) J. J. PASKIN.
